Recipe: Grilled Shrimp

Variation on a recipe for cooking shrimp…

Do-It-Yourself has never tasted so good as with this variation on a recipe for cooking shrimp – grilling instead of steaming. Here’s what it takes…

SouthBmore Shrimp on a Plate
Steamed Shrimp Ready to Serve

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb shrimp , shelled and deveined
  • 2 -3 cloves of garlic minced or grated
  • 3 -4 Anaheim peppers sliced into big chunks (can use a spicer pepper like a poblano or japaleno)
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lime

Directions:

  1. To marinate the shrimp: place shrimp, garlic, and peppers in large bowl. Pour olive oil to coat the shrimp then add salt and pepper to taste. Squeeze a fresh lime over the mixture. Place the coated shrimp in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  2. Warm up the grill.
  3. Using a grill pan, pour the shrimp, peppers and marinade into pan and cook on medium high (about 350 to 400 degrees) until shrimp are opaque and firm (about 10 to 15 minutes). You will want to turn the shrimp several times as they are cooking.
  4. Take the shrimp out of the pan and serve with your favorite sides! One great side is grilled corn on the cob.

Variations:

  • You may wish to use ½ cup of water instead of beer.
  • Some people like to add a couple of celery stalks chopped into large pieces to the pot. If you choose to do this, add the celery when you add the water, beer, and Old Bay Seasoning.

Enjoy:

Maryland Steamed Crabs

A Baltimore and Blue Crab Favorite…

Maryland Steamed Crabs and Cold Beer certainly go together and there’s no better place to find this great combination than at a “local” South Baltimore crab house such as L. P. Steamers Crab House on Fort Avenue in SOBO’s Locust Point. That’s a fine go-to place when you get the urge for some good-eatin’ seafood from the local waters of the Chesapeake Bay – Blue Crabs in particular. The fun and relaxing atmosphere of a locally owned and managed crab house are filled with an ambiance and friendly spirit that combine to make your crab-picking a pleasure.

However, if you would like to enjoy dining at home – having your own “crab feast” or just a hot bowl of Maryland crab soup – be sure to check out the Recipe Collection – Click HERE.

What else is here about Steamed Crabs in SouthBmore and surroundings?

A Baltimore Crab House is the place to be for that authentic crab-picking experience – not at a chain restaurant “claiming” Maryland Crab…
…but if you cannot get there you do have alternatives…like having crabs and crab cakes delivered to your door. Give it a try – order something today.

NOW SHIPPING STEAMED CRABS. Steamed just for you and shipped in a “cold pack” from The Crab Place in Crisfield, Maryland – the Crab Capital of the World – directly to your door.

Most crab houses are open seven days a week (some are closed on Sundays so call ahead to check) and some (but not all) have crabs all year ’round. They also have a variety of cold beverages and a lot of other seafood and non-seafood choices to fulfill everyone’s appetite. Be sure to visit the page on Picking Crabs and the representative, or sample, Menu Page to see what we get to choose from and enjoy when we “go out for crabs.”

Lobster as a Crab Alternative

…your lobster, anywhere, any time.

As wonderful as steamed crabs are to eat and as incredible a “journey” it is to pick ’em and eat ’em yourself, we realize there are many of you who prefer the taste of lobster. Of course, as you must know, lobster here in the mid-Atlantic must be imported from somewhere. The best restaurants and crab houses will be offering only Fresh Lobster from the State of Maine. (Lesser-known eateries and chain restaurants – well, who knows…)

What if you’re not feeling crabby today? Lobster may be your choice of shellfish and you won’t find great cold water Lobster year round like the ones from LobsterAnywhere (an online supplier). Their Maine Lobster comes from the Atlantic and will be delivered fresh to your door.

On the other hand, if you are looking for just a fabulous Lobster Tail, The Crab Place, in Crisfield, Maryland chooses only the highest grade of cold water tails to ship to you. Don’t settle for warm water Lobster at lesser quality when for the same price you can get the highest quality of Lobster on the market. Each Lobster or tail comes complete with cooking instructions.

Live Maine Lobsters

They also offer fabulous Chowders and Appetizers and to complete your meal, decadent New England desserts like Whoopie Pies. And you can also gift someone the pleasure of Maine Lobster. Don’t forget, those gift packages can also be for you.

If you can’t get out of the house for a great meal, you can have the quality of fresh Maine lobster delivered right to your door – literally any where and at almost any time. Yum.
